My o2 was in the 70's the other day........Monday, I think............and since I have no insurance, I simply stayed home, in bed , on my o2......did a couple breathing treatments and had my hubby bring me lousy food....then he sent me a bill for $25K and released me.:)
I hope your brother can get there to meet with doctor.......you and your family are in my prayers:):):)
You take care of yourself also.
God bless
p.s. debbrear hope you are feeling better
God bless
Please don't take what I'm saying as a "slap in the face", but reality being what it is, it doesn't sound good at all! Plus, you have to begin worring about yourself and your medical problems. I know it's hard Boo, I just lost my youngest son 5 years ago and it still feels to me like yesterday. At least I know that he is no longer in pain!
In the short time that you've been here at DS, COPD & Emphysema, you have bared and shared your soul already to help the newer people. You are good! Jim
My prayers for you and yours...
Hugs,
Dennis
Very stressful and many decisions to be made.. Hugs to you!
So, now i'm confused. I just spoke to her nurse. She said mom went from being on 10 liters, down to 8, and her breathing was better, and she's talking and just very tired.
I'm calling her at 10:30am, to ck and see how mom is. She told mom if she wasn't nauseas, she would make her a milkshake later, LOL!!
I told her about what dr said. the nurse didn't see her condition listed as serious, and said why don't we just see how she does overnight. Her breathing is better..i hate for your brother to make arrangements to come in, when it may not be necessary.
Her dr is foreign, and heavy accent, very hard to understand. She said it is not showing mom is in serious condition in her chart.
I'm upset this Dr got me in such a frenzy!!!
GOing to wait and see how it goes. She's breathing fine on 8 liters, no issues at all tonight and she rested most of the day.

I know that is hard for you to do because you are ill yourself, plus worried and sad about mom,, plus stressed over what to tell your brother.
Let's start with the first one. You need to make sure you take care of yourself and take any meds you need, in order to stay as well as possible.
I pray for you that this is not the end, but as Jim said, if it is, there is nothing you or any doctor can do to stop it.
So, be there for her, love her, make as many last memories as you can.
Your brother? I do not know the story here, but tell him NOW!! Why do you wait? He has the right to know about his mom, and what he does about it is up to him. You had posted earlier that he had no idea how bad off she was.
Honey, I do not mean to come across as judgeing, if I did, I am sorry. But you are carrying the whole load there, plus being sick your self, so let it go a bit and get your brother in there with you to help.If he does not respond to your or your doctor's invitation, to come see his mom for maybe the last time, that is on him, not you.
You do the right thing and tell him and leave it at that, he just may surprise you and be the big brother you need right now.
May God give your mom peace and comfort and give you strength and wisdom to get thru this, and may God give your brother the courage to take that first step toward his mom. They both need it, and so do you.
Brenda
She slept all day, and i'm calling the nurse back at 1030pm.
My brother is aware of what's going on now. I think he was in denial, for fear she would pass away.
According to the nurse, she said to wait and see how she does tonight, and that she didn't think she was serious, and that my brother will have to decide what he wants.
I don't know if i can make this meeting with the dr this week. It's so hard for me to walk, and i can barely walk, due to my bad arthritis in my knees, and hips, and i have spinal stenosis in my back.
if he wants to speak to us about long term care, i can do that over the phone, that is...if i can understand him!!!
I get it, that after this bout of pneumonia antiobiotics, that they can't do anything else for her. Not sure if rehab is the next step or not.
Plus, i am NOT feeling well tonight, all day i slept...chest is heavy, and no fever, but extremely fatigued.
I didn't tell you all, but i had a relapse a few weeks ago with smoking. But, i will tell you that as of tonight...i smoked my LAST ONE....
I can't do it anymore, it's not enjoyable, and seeing Mom the way she is, with another bout of pneumonia, that is looking at my future, if i continue. I'm putting the patch on tommorrow.
Maybe it took this thing with Mom, to make me realize what kind of future i will have, if i continue to smoke....in a hospital bed with 2 bouts of pneumonia within a month. Mom smoked for 60 years!!!!
I want to live, and keep living and breath better, and hopefully get off this ball and chain oxygen!!!
Ok, that's my 2 cents worth, plus an update about Mom. Your prayers are working so far, as she is a bit better!
Thanks alot,
Boo
I'm really not feeling great, but O2 is still good.
I'm going to rest, go to bed early and see how if i feel well enough to go up and see her. If i don't, i will get up there this week.
No use in me getting more sick, by going out in the cold weather, and tiring myself out, if i am not feeling up to par.
Nurse said they would call if any change with Mom., but that she was fine, not hungry, but is doing well tonight.
Thanks all of you again,
GOod night..
Boo
My prayers are with you and your mom.
Sending relaxing vibes and a good sleep.
