ifinally accepted the diagnosis. I had Severe flare-up for the first time yesterday. I can't sleep. I'm 63 vibrant woman. But it seems the COPD caught up to me and has moved into my life. I'm frightened. Sad.
dying is around the corner, but once they are under control suddenly you realise, though you have limitations and must respect them, life goes on and can be good.
You must get a lung doctor to handle the flare ups, he/she will give you a prescription to handle it when it occurs. Often it requires prednisone(cortisone) pills and antibiotics that last at least a couple of weeks, then a recuperation period for your body to adjust. These pills help and also
sometimes have awful side effects. The cortisone sometimes feels like speed and some blow up like a balloon.
Read up on google everything you can to prevent and have a quality of life.
