Pulmonary rehab should be at the top of you preventative medicine list. They teach you how to breathe, exercise and eat within the confines of our disease. You might need to talk to both your heart and lung docs to get it going. Definitely worth doing...

Denny makes some very very good points, which I believe you should follow. I will add, that as you work your way thru the process, you become more encouraged as you notice positive changes in your strength and stamia. Take care, Bill

Right on with everything said rehab is very important.
God bless
The pulmonary rehab has strenghtened my legs to the point , that today I walked from a parking lot, across the parking lot, to the egg hunt on the other side of the church with no problem!!
I kept saying :Thank you Jesus" with each step!! I do not know how far it was, but it was a LONG ways.
Yes, I had to rest before I walked back, but to me that was wonderful. Maybe I can not pull that off everyday, because a lot depends on the weather, and today was perfect.
But without rehab, I would get sob walking to the bathroom which is just across the hall from my bedroom.
It gives you more stamina, strength, and the ability to do more.
I wear oxygen 24/7, and do not have the lung function to consider getting off it, so that is something your doctor could decide with you.
It would depend on how destroyed your lungs are, if your heart is damaged any, and if going without o2 could be done without doing harm to your organs.
Some folks have gone off it, and it would be so wonderful if you could also.
But yes, rehab is hard, but worth every minute of it. I am going to be thru with mine in about two weeks and thinking of doing the maintanance exercises which are 2 x a week for 3 weeks.
Wishing you the best results on both
Brenda
