I recently switched from Symbicort to Seretide (serevent in U.S) , for 3-4 weeks I felt like a new man , but now it is back to 'normal' .. it seems as if a kind of tolerance builds up .. I am wondering now (as I have both here) if I switched back to Symbicort whether I would feel a similar boost. And furthermore I wonder if any of you guys have noticed anything similar ..like a tolerance?
Maybe you need to give it more time and if it isn't working do let your doctor know.
I know some of the inhalers I have tried didn't work for me.and I went back to the serevent.

I can' use any of the inhalers that have a steroid in them. I've been using Spiriva for years & can tell if I don't take it. I'm waiting for Daxas to be approved. Think it already is in Europe, but don't know about GR. Britain. It's a new non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Might want to check it out. In the past I have taken Spiriva, Ventolin(albuterol) & advair(the same as serevent& seretide) at the same time. Had to drop the Advair though. Deb
I'm taking Seretide 50/500 Accuhaler - miniscule nano granules of powder encapsulated in bubbles inside a doughnut-shaped dispenser. If I don't inhale long & slow, the powder sticks to the back of my throat where it is goes to waste. When I mentioned this to my pulmo, he admitted that most of these inhalers (vapour & power forms) don't reach deep into the lungs where the active ingredient is designed to work simply because most chronic COPD sufferers don't have the lung capicity to inhale strongly enough.
HUH??? Makes me real mad to think that I may have been wasting my time, effort & money by taking these meds so religiously! But, like you, I may have built up an intolerance to this stuff.
However, I can't say this is true of Spiriva Respimat that releases a fine mist. Wow, this stuff is good and I certainly notice a difference if I miss a daily dose.
Just goes to show, what works for one person may not work for another. I think it's between you and your doctor to strike the magic formula.

Iam still in very good over all health so I dont really need Spiriva yet, however there is an argument that says one should be given the choice..
I know from reading on here that it regularly gets good 'reviews' ... and Deb , have you heard anything more about that new inhaler ...whats it called... not Daxas , another one...oh my memories gone!

I started an new academic year at the end of Sept , so I have been busy with that ...dont you worry though I wont go far ...I am watching all you guys makin sure you all behave!
A spokesman for Norvartis has commented that it won't be available here until possibly the spring of next year. I can have access to it but would like to hear from an actual user.
After watching the senate hearings on Heparin last year and seeing how the FDA officials responded to questioning, It was really frightning. I just listen to them with one ear now.
I'm excited and hopefully will get to start this month on it. Had to delay the start due to last bug had me back on prednisone. I had to be "free" of oral prednisone for 6 weeks before the start of the program so they can get the clearest start point before the trial.
FIngers crossed.. I really am hoping it will be of benefit - especially in reducing the exacerbations and best of all.. through the study the meds and test are all free for the next year. That will help my cookie jar savings!
