I just got by medicare card in the mail. I am not eligible until January 1, 2012 but they gave me the 2011 rate for part B, so it must be a big secret.

In Canada, medicare is FREE hahahahaha, we all pay the same amount on our income taxes for it, approx 900.00 a year and pay up to 80 dollars a month for meds, the rest is covered. Of course any new meds on the market for the first couple of years aren't covered. It's still better than in the US. However, there are long waits at the ER and clinics.

I don't get much from Social Security $$$$ hardly worth it so was thinking CAN I NOT TAKE MEDICARE since it cost so much?

Bee you don't have to take Medicare..I don't have it. I assume you have other insurance.

Jona you have to apply for disability through social security. Once you are certified disabled you are then eligible to obtain medicare 24 months later.
