i recieved a right kick up the butt several wks ago , seeing my dad die with this illness i thought i,d got a couple of years left in me , enough to see my youngest well on the road to indepenence ,
iwas rushed into A+E by ambulance because my breathing was bad ,i remember going in and out of concousness on the journey but was gc score of 3 by the time i arrived ( unresponsive )
strange things happened during the next hour ( but to me it was minuetes)
cutting the story short i was declared dead by the doctor but i shocked them all by starting to breath and opening my eyes ,my first words were to tell the doctor he was fit and ask him was he married lol
then it was like show and tell with doctors coming from all over the place to read my notes and ask questions ,
i was told they couldnt explain what happened but i should of at least be brain dead as i was completely with out oxygen for way too long ,i did feel like i had been run over by a bus , but felt very much alive
they didnt know what caused this and couldnt promise me that it wont happen again ( which it has but not as bad , i never lost concousness ) but it has made me realise that i need to make descreet arangments for my daughter now ,in case it ever does ,as she is under 18 and would not even be able to stay living in this house ,

I am glad you made it back. Yes, it is a good idea to plan ahead; in case the worst happens. I hope you feel less pain soon, and continue breathing and living as full a life as you can. Best wishes.

That's sounds scary. Are you on supplemental O2? I did something similar in 06, but it happened over a couple days. Just kept getting more & more sleepy. Woke up 4 days later in ICU on a vent. Not fun!!

no Deb not on 02 my sats are 94 at rest , i do feel completely exhausted for a couple of days before my (turns ) and even though im breathing in good it seems like im not getting anything in my lungs ,then they feel like they have become the size of golf balls and its ambulance time ,my sats are down to 70,s by time they get here ,so its blues and 2s to the hospital , just glad its not that far away as time is a major factor ,

Have they looked for heart involvement? It can cause something similar to what you went through. Not getting enough oxygen makes the heart work much harder to pump blood; this in turn causes exhaustion--------then you can have a heart attack/stroke/pulmonary failure separately or in combination. I have been in the hospital twice for this. The first incident they called a heart attack (I though it was my lungs). It is hard to tell if it is your heart, because symptoms are similar to lung infection or exacerbation. The key that I have noticed is how exhausted I get. Best wishes.

Yes that sounds so scarry it is scarry when u cant breath. I hope they are testing to find out what is causing it. Wish u well and healing.
