Often in discussions people make reference to an oximeter in conection with their COPD. Is it worth me buying one for my home use and how will I benefit from one, also which one would you advise [please not too expensive] ??? I`m relitively new to this condition and find this group very helpfull and careing but at times it is all a bit double dutch so if this is a silly question please bear with me. Thanks for your help and just being there

Oh Dennis you are a gem...now I have the list of abbreviations there will be no stopping me in understanding everyone thanks.
I have ordered my oximeter and also a peak flow meter sooooo next I will be asking many questions on there use!!!!

Just to clarify, SOB only means short of breath in the context of medical terminology. Americans also use it in a not so nice way as well. :)

Chrissie, I have had one for 3 yrs now and use it almost daily, for me it does a couple things, it allows me to measure my oxygen under different circumstances, and it's like an early warning sign should my level drop way low during non-execertion periods. I am sure you will find ways to best utilize the info you get using one. You can find them for a wide variety of prices so that shouldn't be much of a concern. Please take care, Bill

Chrissie...............I know you will enjoy your new pulseox........and please let me know all you can about the Peak Flow thingy.................first time I heard of that..................might have to get me one..........but what to hear about your experience first:):):)

It`s all new to me so once they come I will let you know how I get on. I ordered from Amazon and once I looked at oximeters that automaticaly led onto peak flow meters....good sales tactic because I was obviously hooked and ordered one!!!
