My son received his undergraduate degree in physical therapy and told me that excercise was accumlative. I could do 5 minutes of exercise 6 times a day and that was the same as 30 minutes of exercising. Put One foot down and the next foot down, you have walked 2 steps. Count everytime your left foot hits the ground and you have walked 1 PACE. 1000 paces equals 1 mile. Practice your pursed lips breathing first.
I knew I wouldn't go out in the nasty weather consistently and wanted to start building my strentgh back. I practice my pursed lips breathing first so I didn't have to think about it when I was walking. I then started walking 100 paces 10 times a day. I made myself a track around my house, not all of us can afford or want a treadmill. If I want more excercise I can start adding some stairs, (haven't got that far yet, it's going to take a lot for that to sound fun). I am now walking 350 3 times a day. Even if you can only do 25 paces 10 times a day that is 1/4 of a mile. Almost 2 miles a week.
I oldest granddaughter is graduating from high school this year and I'm going to take her on a cruise in August. This may be the last time I get quality time with her, she lives in another state and will be starting her adult life soon. She also owns my heart. I want to be able to enjoy this trip and I want to do everything I can to be as strong as I can be.
Hope this was helpful. HillarysNan,

Your son is right. Every step counts! It doesn't matter if you have to take breaks, or sit down and rest a while. It all adds up. I was so glad when I finally gave up my old "competitive" view that you always had to break a sweat and keep at it and power through. Not possible anymore. Exercise is cumulative. So I just relax and enjoy it. Good for you for being persistent! This will really make a difference, and will make you strong for that cruise!

I got myself a small bike and it's really helping. I try to do as much as I can, and mostly get on the bike, just keep doing it. I'm so glad that it is all the counts together that help, as sometimes, I have to just simply stop, and then start up again, but I sit there, and do it. It's right here in my lvrm in frt of my TV and so I can keep it all going at the same time. Now, I'm going to get on it even more each day. Thanks!

It sure has helped! You're an inspiration to us all, Shirlie. You don't know how many times I have gotten out of bed and said "this is the day I'm going to start excersising, but never do. It winds me to bad to try and do most anything. But now I think I'm really going to try and improve my quality of life. Thank you so much for you inspiring story.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
