Emphysema is characterized by loss of elasticity of the lung tissue, destruction of structures supporting the alveoli and of capillaries feeding the alveoli. You are a good person, and remind me a lot of David, my Son in Law. His idea of some thing funny has caused many arguments with Heather until she figured out it was a joke, and as for my self, I am amazed at some of the things he can say and do and expect me to laugh. It is nothing Bad, it is just not funny and suited more for a child. Strange sense of humor.
Maybe that is just an Aussie thing? Love you my brother...

[I dodged bullets for 2 years I can assure you there is humor in uniform ranging from black to just silly. Not everyone sees the humor. My mother was quite distraught when I went and never found my stories funny. Always felt she took it too seriously. My appreciation of her feelings changed when my son went, but I never as irrational as my wife.]
We all get hypocritical, easily offended, and sanctimonious about our ox, but quite dispassionate, rational and impartial when it comes to someone elses. The secret in any discussion is to identify the ownerships involved. (Smile.)
This forum here lately has been on egg shells with everyone getting snarley if someone disagrees with their views.
But he is a good person, and not that way where he would say something on purpose to offend someone.
Some folks here could care less . I personally was not offended as I was just trying to explain that some folks had a personal deposit in this war.
I understand also about there being humor in uniform, because when my husband was police chief, those cops would laugh at some of the most horrifying (to me ) moments that I could not understand, but was explained it was to relieve the emotional stress of seeing the worst of humanity everyday. They never laughed at the victims, but other random things relating to the scene.
Maybe we should all just take a moment to think about our comment, and if it might be taken wrong, before we hit enter. And me especially.
And maybe we should all take a moment to re read the post before we jump in.
Or maybe we should return to what we are suppose to be doing and that is being a support group. Leave race religion, country of origin, ect out of our posts and stick to copd related things, or happy personal things, like family visiting, or a good Dr. Report, Or the weather...
Like you said, your feelings changed when your son went to war. It is always different if you have personal deposit in anything.
Some folks here get offended if the wind blows the wrong way, and as for the Pope, I do not recall him ever saying do not laugh, he said do not make fun of anothers beliefs.
I am going to take a break and visit my other sites , good breathing to all of you, and be nice.....
P.S. Not that it matters or any one cares, but I am baptist, but can still respect other religions.
Wishing everyone a blessed week.....
