We've had a couple of discussions about this in the past year & i'm curious if it has helped those that were trying it back in april?

I had several questions back then & I still have the same questions;
it says it is a "mechanical ventilator",.
is it used in place of a bi-pap machine?
or is it for someone with a trache?
one of the reasons i'm so confused is I was told it was something to exercise my lungs.
it shows it as portable; is it used instead of my small 02 tanks when I go out, like a POC?

sorry for so many questions, but i am curious just what this is & how it might help me.

My wife uses 3 continuous Ltrs at night. after her 4th exacerbation event, I began to question why they were all happening between 2 & 4 AM. I was told that even people with healthy lungs, these are the hours that the lungs are at their worst. The Dr. in the hospital ordered the Trilogy for her and her nocturnal problems have seemed to be under control. She still gets her oxygen via concentrator but it's but now, it's bled through the Trilogy. Now in her case, it's something like a Bi-pap because it pulls off the high amount of CO2 as she is CO2 retainer. The machine is actually an AVAP the way she uses it. She has a mask that attaches to her headgear, so she gets her air through her nose and mouth. Although you can carry it with you, I see no reason for us to do it like that. The link is www.viemed.com. In many areas you can get the Trilogy through your O2 supplier, but because Viemed doesn't supply concentrators in this area, I must rely on two suppliers. You are correct though, this machine can be set to work as a vent.

I use my trilogy at night. I'm on oxygen 24/7 and I have a separate concentrator for when I'm awake. I have no clue what my settings are. My therapist came and set it up for me. And I haven't had any issues. She also told me to put on my mask and breathe if I needed to do that during the day. Kinda like the way you use a nebulizer. Since I got my trilogy I haven't needed the nebulizer, so there's that. And I rarely need it during the day, less than once a month.

I like mine a lot. It is small - easily fits on my nightstand - so if I spent nights anywhere but in my home, I could take it. It's not like the portable oxygen that you use to go outside. I have separate canisters in a lovely backpack for that.

I got mine because my therapist thought it would work for me. She comes to my home about every other month to check on me. I'm not sure how I got on her list, I think my doctor requested it. And my insurance pays for all that.
