Went into doc about another matter but showed him information about Alldaychemists and he was totally elated. His wife has COPD and even he is running into the insurance 'doughnut hole'. He looked thru what I asked about, Advair, Pro Air, etc from ADC and he immediately needed the web site. Today I ordered 4 mo. of Tiova and will wait for that to arrive before ordering more drugs.

Hhow do you reduce the cost of Spiriva?
I've studied what it is (a capsule that doesn't appear to have anything in it - and I mean that literally nothing appears to be in it) and there is no reason for it to cost $355.00 for 24 treatments. It should cost less than $10. My husband is a manufacturer and I design his products. I know what manufacturing should cost.
And why do I need a new plastic inhaling device with each 24 capsules?
This mega pharma thing is a heartless racket. I walked away from the pharmacy and told them to keep it - making sure that the pharmacist knew that I didn't think it was his fault.

As far as Spiriva, you can look for coupons or do as many others do - purchase a years worth of Tiova from ADC at $35 a pop for 90 caps + shipping. The capsule has a metered dosage of Tiotropium Bromide inhalable powder in it. A very small amount of powder - 18 micrograms of dust.
The various patents for Spiriva and it's mechanisms is held by Boehringer Ingelheim KG and stands until 2027- at which time a generic will be available here.
ADC is a far better option, as outwaiting Boehringer could take a while...

sorry you are having problems with the spiriva. it is a godsend to me as it is one of the few long acting meds that doesn't have steriods in it.
i'm curious about the 24 day supply? weird. as that would have to break up a 30 day or 90 day packet.
ADC is one way to get it, some insurances pay for it & i personally go online to spiriva (Boehringer Ingelheim KG) site & fill out a form once a year as "financial hardship" and spiriva company then sends me a 90 day supply every 3 months....my dr. has to fill in a bunch of forms also & fax all the paperwork with a prescription (its quite the process, but once done i'm covered to get spiriva free for 1 year)
for 90 days they only send 1 inhaler & i felt they should send one with every 30 day supply as i have broken mine a couple times (i always keep a couple of old working ones around just in case)
many name brand drugs are horribly expensive until they reach a generic status---
can you ask your dr to prescribe a medicine that has a generic form already on the market?
