smoking was the worse contributor for me.
but also allergies, i have had to change my allergy med a few times as my body or something has changed.
of course certain foods can cause flem. it's kind of a thing that you have to keep a diary of what you eat & drink for awhile to see if certain things affect you.
staying hydrated
do you have an infection that needs antibiotics?
or a yeast/fungal infection? that is common (i hear) with steroid inhalers.
mucinex/guaifenesin
do you have a long acting & rescue inhaler? do they help?
(my inhalers dry me out)
also, i find when i am up & moving it seems to help me clear out the gunk & get it moving; walking really seems to help me.
my worse time is at night & i find propping myself up helps a lot.
of course all of these things you should check with your dr ...did your pulmonologist have any suggestions?
ps. promises had a link about ibuprophen being used for COPD---ibuprophen is an anti-infamatory also, just not as strong as steroids, maybe your dr would want to "switch" you for awhile.
