I have spent the last 8 months figuring out how to deal with my condition, and get my affairs in order. I now have an o.k. income from disability insurance, and can get around O.K. (with the help of oxygen). I have learned how to make the best of life with copd.

I spent the last week at the hospital, where my 93 year old father was admitted on Tuesday. It looks like tough times ahead for him and my mother (86). He was released today, but I don't expect him to ever be as active as before. They will both need a lot of help.

I am thankful that now I have the time to help them out. If I was still working I wouldn't be able to do it. So I guess I got sick for a reason.

And the thing is we don't always see or understand the reason...............but yepper...........seems everything does happen for a reason.

I absolutely HATE no being able to work full time anymore..........I am on SSDI and am actually allowed to work a few hours...............you can actually make up to $750 a month .........work has always been my hobby.................and I can't seem to replace it with anything yet.........but the 10-12 hours a week I do work is sometime pretty tough on me for several days after:(:(..........Prolly will get worse as summer gets here:(

My sorta kinda goal was to help out my MIL........problem is I can't stand her....and she is in better shape than me.................LOL..........so I am looking for the "reason" still:):)

Gary, I agree that all things happen for a good reason. It's really wonderful you are in a position to help your parents, and even more wonderful that you recognize it as a blessing. I'm still looking for my reason, but I know I will find it one day.:)

Gary, I think that there is a reason for all that happens too but I usually don't have any idea what it is. My sons tease me about my mantra, which is Timing is Everything. With that one, I can look back and marvel at the extraordinary timing on some of the important things that happened to me. Seems to be true in your case too and I wish the best for you and your parents.

Rarely do we fully understand the reason, but in a moment of clarity I think you were showed why things happened to you. Make the best of it, take care of your folks. I agree Cindy, Timing is everything. I also believe everything happens for a reason and also what goes around comes around.

Treasure the time with them. My Mom is still hospitalized after 3 months..but I miss having her home with me. Not sure how long I'll have her for, and i can't do as much for her as i used to, but still would like her back home, where she wants to live.

We'll see how her rehab goes, once she gets there!

I too beleive that things happen for a reason, I also beleive in the power of praying, Not long ago my litle grandson had menengitus , the docters really thought he wouldnt survive. I wasnt able to see him caus the hospital was many miles from my home. So every day I got on my knees and prayed for him to get well, And he answered my prayers he not only survived he had no after effects. except he does have a reaction to any animal with fir it makes him have a seizure.. To see him playing football is a absolute miracle. ,it really is.

glad things are starting to go better for you.it was a good day when i got my affairs in order and came to terms with this disease.
