OK, don't all panic - we will be calling the doctor in the morning. Just want to know if anyone else does this. Hubby has chronic bronchitis/emphyema/asthma. Once in awhile he will cough up some blood with the mucous. Lately it has been more blood mixed with the mucous, not like he has bursted a clot or anything as it not a deep red or running blood. It's just blood mixed with the mucous when he coughs. I am thinking it is more of an irritation of the lungs/throat or whatever because the man coughs deep, deep coughs and bring up gunk all the time. Is this common with chronic bronchitis? thanks for any responses.

Like sometimes, during a bad sinus situation, a little capillary breaks from blowing nose to hard, so maybe this is the case with your husband except it is coming from the lung or stomach?

wouldn't it nice if weird stuff just happened while you were at the dr & stopped when you were home.
i'm glad the dr isn't just passing it off & is doing an xray in case it happens again in the future.
