I was just thinking about B12 and wondering why the doctors are not recommending this supplement. My red blood cell count is low and I think that may be from COPD. The red blood cells carry oxygen to the organs in the body which is mega important to folks like us.
Have any of you talked to a nutritionist or doctor about vitiman B or Vitiman B complex?

I have a B-12 shot once month from my primary doc for anemia and fibromyalgia. it seems to give me more energy but I will have to ask the pulmo doc if it helps or not. I know it helps with inflammation in the cells they say. They are inexpensive if your insurance will not cover it. Let me know what you find out. Thanks LInda

Linda - I haven't tried B-2 shots, but I had a boss who did and like Happy said, it gave her lots of energy. I could always tell when she came to work when she had just had her shot. She was a real whirlwind. It gradually wore off and next month she'd go back for another.

I've been taking a B complex vitamin, but don't really think it is doing much, not that I can feel. I'd like to try the shots, but I don't if my PG will give them to me.

hi linda,
my dad was recently at urgent care for being excessively sob and dizzy. turned out he was anemic . we are not positive this is what is causing the symptoms but he is being treated with b12 and folic acid.

I was told that B12 is extremely hard to absorb hence the shots. The needle they use is very small and it is a small amount given in the shoulder. I did not feel it at all and it really helps. However you can tell when you are ready for another. It does where off usually around day 26 or 27. Maybe thats whats wrong with me today. LOL

I used to take the shot monthly for fibro flares and then used to take the tablets when I was flaring until it dawned on the neuro that it probably wasnt such a good idea not to be doing so as I am BP1 and an oddity in that category - 100% manic no depression with it and no matter what they have done thru the years they have never been able to stabilize me. They have now given up and just strive to knock the mania downa notch or to to a livable level. Anywys yes for a manic B12 isnt the best thing to have in your system
