Emphysema is characterized by loss of elasticity of the lung tissue, destruction of structures supporting the alveoli and of capillaries feeding the alveoli. Both have symptoms that include shortness of breath, among other respiratory troubles. If you are a COPD or Emphysema sufferer, join...
have you tried anything that has helped you?
I would like to know if something else could help us all.

I'll attempt to be brief. My thoughts are on the same lines as you stated. Although I would never toss away the medical knowlege as practiced today, perhaps there are conjugative alternatives to assist conventional treatments. A better mouse-trap, maybe?
I have to use only one inhaler. Combivent. Contains a rapid acting chemical and a longer acting chemical to relax the airways from constricting, enabling easier breathing. I also, with my doctors concern, ingest N-acetyl cysteine along with denatured whey protein concentrate. Together these two compounds allow my body to produce the much needed anti-oxidant Glutathione. Glutathione is the master anti-oxidant which is required for all animals and plants.
I won't go further into details, it would take days for me to try to explain, (smile) but my body has been far better for it. I see a physician evey six months. One year ago when I walked into the office she surprisedly exclaimed how well I look. A rather unusual statement from a doc. I also take a variety of vitamins and suppliments.
To me this sounds simular to your thinking? I do agree with you sir, in as much as there is no reason not to think 'out of the box' as is sometimes said.
I'm age 71, Have had emphysema for almost six years. It's not progressing and stable. I know the damage to lung cells are irretrievable, but perhaps I can try to stop further damage as is usually the case.
Although I have never had the need for oxygen, your words of how you use it is a great idea. Hope you can write with more of your thoughts?
My very best wishes to you,
Mike
Also looking at AIRBORNE but unavailable here, working on it.

However, I am still optimistic that there might be something out there and just recently I saw some interesting data on SERRAPEPTASE. Does anyone know of this? I don't look on this one as a scam as it is available as an over-the-counter medication at many health food shops and pharmacies, not just via a website. It's supposed to work on scar tissue in the lungs, for one thing, but is useful elsewhere within the body.
I had never heard of Serrapeptase until you mentioned it. I looked it up on the net and all the info sounds really good. I think I would be willing to give it a try if its not to expensive. Hate to spend money on something that doesn't work but if it works than i'd be fine with that. I have fallen for scams too and have wasted a lot of money on them. We should compare wastebaskets with each other.I will tell you one though and that is the A & B soup from Wei Labs. I wasted alot on that one.
Looking forward to getting to know you.

They have responded twice since then - the first time to say it was unfortunate that it had not worked and would I like a refund or a replacement. The second time - I was informed that they had credited my Paypal account with the purchase price.
I am very surprised and pleased and as I said I eat my words. I should have discussed it with them before I ran them down on this forum.
I think it's important to remember how long Emphysema has been around and if these "alternatives" worked, they would have been trumpeted long ago! Myself, I'll stick with the tried and true, LTOT!
PEOPLE DIE from stopping treatments that work, for this snake oil crap a very good friend of ours that was on this board is now DEAD because of it
You have COPD the 4 th largest killer in the world not a runny nose that any old snake oil can fix or given time and it will fix itself . Think before you jump on this one you may not find a bottom.

My own feeling is the majority of reputable doctors are interested in saving lives, not shortening them. If these "miracle cures" were actually miracles, it would be the major course of treatment we would all be using.
My thoughts are to halt the progression as much as I can, following my doctor's instructions and live my life as best I can for as long as I can.
I mention this in another post, so please excuse my repetition, but if you decide to try any other medicines please tell your doctor, for sometimes herbal or other remedies can and do interact with prescription drugs, often with dire consequences.
