Brian, got severe allergies from my family and his Dad's family. We had him tested by an allergy specialist when he was quite young, as our family doctor was at wits end. Family doctor had already treated my Dad, brother, me, and my husband. I am allergic to so many things. My husband had severe hay fever and airborne allergies.
Long story short: Brian is allergic to foods, grass, trees; you name it. He misses work as he is SO very ill. He has severe asthma. His eyes swell shut from itching and reactions to pollen.
His lips and mouth swell and break out in sores. His throat swells shut (life threatening). The only thing we have tried that has worked at all; I found in Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible. It is an old book, but my husband and son found some relief by me putting them on a vitamin regimen. Previously, my husband got
allergy shots once weekly for years. These shots are the thing you are allergic to; the thinking being that you will build up a tolerance. My husband was hospitalized repeatedly after receiving allergy shots; so I refused to go that route with our son.
My younger brother was "technically dead" after an allergy shot.
They did revive him. I will never forget that incident as long as I live. He was only 7 years old. I was alone with him when he started having trouble breathing and turned blue. I ran to my grandmother's house. She drove him to the hospital where they
"brought him back". My younger brother never had another allergy shot.
My best advice is that nutrition: what we eat; drink; and vitamins can reduce some allergies. It may or may not work for you? I am
not a doctor; just a person with a long family history of allergies.
Stay indoors, if possible. Filtered air is best. Best wishes. I really hope you start recovering and the pollen levels lower.
Make sure to shower or bath before you go to bed, so that you're not carrying pollens to bed with you. Also, if it's not warm enough for the A/C. run the fain on the furnace, and the filter will help take pollens out of the air. Get an electrostatic filter if you can.
Put allergen covers on your mattress and pillows. They do make a difference.
I really like the homeopathic eye drops for allergy eyes made by Similisan. Very soothing.
Good luck to you!
