My pharmacist gave me a bit of literature regarding an inhaler called Aerobika Oscillating PEP. This device apparently helps to remove mucus and aid in breathing. She wanted to order one in for me but at the cost of $80 plus I said no and also even though I have severe end stage COPD, I really don't have any mucus issues. Has anyone heard of these things?

I'm still on the search for any trials etc. in Canada but they sure seem to be few and far between - like on the other side of the country.

I have used a Flutter Mucus Removal Device in the past when I had mucus. The Flutter is similar to the device you mentioned in that it causes vibrations in the chest that loosen mucus making it easier to cough up.

If you don't have a mucus problem, I fail to see the point.

My question is, why is a pharmacist advising you about this? It should be your doctor.

But as you say, if you don't have a mucus problem, why do you need one?

I use the Flutter Valve on occasion when I am really conjested. It does help along with mucinex to loosen and cough up the mucus. But mine only cost 25.00. As far as why the pharmacist is saying this instead of the doctor, this is just my opinion, but I have found pharmacist that know as much or more than some docters, about medication. They HAVE to know meds, adverse reactions, if a new med prescribed will go with your other meds, ect...I trust my doctor, but I trust my pharmacist also.......
