I am not sure you can take what's published by a malpractice attorney at face value. The FDA (Food & Drug Administration) may not be perfect, but I think they are a more reliable source for information.

Advair is in a drug class called Long-Acting Beta-Agonist or LABAs. Other drugs in the class include Foradil, Symbicort and Serevent.

The FDA modified their prescribing recommendations for LABAs back in February for asthma patients, but said "FDA has determined that the benefits of LABAs in improving asthma symptoms outweigh the potential risks when used appropriately with an asthma controller medication in patients who need the addition of LABAs"

The FDA also said "There is no evidence to conclude that people with C-O-P-D who use LABAs are at any greater risk compared to people with C-O-P-D who do not use LABAs. FDA does not recommend any change in the use of LABAs for C-O-P-D".

Advair has its problems. I quit taking it and finally got my voice back. I could barely speak for months while on it. Once I took it off my daily med list, my voice starting getting better and better. Its still not perfect...I lost my singing voice and can't seem to get it back. But still, some people can use it and not have that problem.

The FDA approving these drugs doesn't change the results of many clinical trials and cold hard facts!

I tried taking advair twice. The first time at the high dose & the 2nd at the lowest. Results were the same within 3 days. Tremors, heart palpitations & constriction of the throat. NOT GOOD! Deb
