According the the wonderful doctors (NOT) that pain is infection in your bone and not something that can be chased away with meds - it is something that has to run its course

Advair is good because it contains meds tht include a corticosteroid [spelled wrong] that opens the airways...it can cause a thrush though, so YOU HAVE to rinse your mouth and gargle after every time you use it, water, rinse, repeat, and i also use mouth wash & gargle....it doesnt always work, and the nystatin is expensive...otherwise i have not had any probs w/ advair. I use advair and spiriva both and rarely have any sob issues.

It my understanding Advair and Symbicort are both long acting corticosteroids, and from what I've read it's pretty much like if you prefer Coke or Pepsi. Symbicort is said to work faster than Advair. Are you on both of these medications at the same time? That is pretty surprising to me, for I was under the impression with either one you aren't supposed to use more than twice a day as your doctor prescribes.

When I was on Advair, though my breathing was okay, I had a lot of side effects (joint & muscle pain, etc). I switched to Symbicort and these stopped.

I still get that kind of pulled muscle pain like you described though, under my rib cage. Think it's common with COPD, but it sure can hurt!

Jamsnazzy , no I am not on both at the same time , the nurse said that if I diddnt get along with seretide , I could go back on symbicort ...I guess I 'll just give it a month or so and see ...it seems to me that this copd thing is so up and down that it's hard to tell eitherways , but I have read that Advair/ Seretide , has a good record in avoiding ...erm ...the guy with the scythe ...no , not farmer Giles

Hey, im having awful joint pain, could it be tyhe advair? maybe io can ask my doc to change me to symbicort...does symbicort also have the thrush issues?

it diddnt for me , but then again Im weird as in the ventolin gives me thrush , and NOT cortisteroid based meds

Indy, I wouldn't venture a guess as to what your joint pains are 'cause I'm not a doctor, and it could be arthritis or some such, but I can say, for me, that this was one of the side effects I had from Advair. I remember I used to write about it in my journal. And yes, Symbicort can cause thrush too. Think most of them do. Rinse, rinse, rinse.....LOL....

hey Indy , my missus just said that a lot of people she knows have had significant benefit from wearing one of those copper and magnetic bracelets ,for joint pain, her work colleague had severe pain , and says that 7 yrs later it still works , and med free

where do u get these bracelets?

I was on Advair 500/50 for years, and never really felt like it helped much. Then I switched to Symbicort last year, and it's made a big difference. I seem to be able to get it down farther into my lungs, and I just think it works better on me.

just to update , with these advair inhalers I seem to be bringing up a lot more crap , but I noticed this morning that the pain I was on about had gone ,,but after using the inhaler its back , but this time in the same place ,,,but in the OTHER lung .....at this time I'm thinkin , go back on the Symbicort ...

Pete is it like a muscle pain but in the top of your lungs with a burning sensation too.
