Recently I had a significant exacerbation of my COPD. A friend brought me pure eucalyptus oil made by NOW. They told me don't dilute it to just atomize it by whatever means I had and for me that meant cast iron pan with water on the wood stove.

I also rubbed it all over my chest, back, neck, behind the ears and under my nose. I noticed a measure of relief in both tightness of the chest and suffocation. I would like to know if anyone else has tried this and the results. Also would appreciate any other natural remedies that you guys have found that helps.

Eucalyptus is marketed for such things and even for kids to inhale in a vaporizer, but it is very strong for our sensitive lungs, and must be diluted I would advise talking with your doctor about this. Anything going into our lungs right now can do it harm or not.

Good luck, there are some good things out there, and eucalyptus oil, is good.

That oil is an old time remedy my Mom used to use it on us when we had bad congestion as kids.I havent used it as an adult...I would ask my Doc.before trying it now since it may cause more harm than good..

One of the ingredients in Vicks Vaporub is eucalyptus oil. It has other ingredients too but, as a child with frequent respiratory ailments, my mother used to use Vicks Vaporub on my chest and I did have relief.
it was safe for kids and commonly used. Sometimes she added it to boiled water and I just breathed it in with a towel over my head.

Ah yes I remember the days of Vicks Vapor Rub and the towel over the head breathing in the steam. I have had respiratory problems, allergies, asthma you name it all my life. Seen everything from Epi shots to theophylline, breatheen, animnoflin. Everything I am going through I have seen previously. Our science just doesn't know enough. I know the treatments also cause co-morbidities. I try to look at it as a stamina test of will. I take supplements for inflammation, live on a mountain where there is clean air, I drink very good well water, I have someone that feeds me like a horse yet I don't gain weight. This disease tests me every day but it also teaches me how strong I really am even though I sure as hell don't feel that way. I hate suffocating to death and dread winter because it is the worst. Winter doesn't care whether you live in the city or a mountain. The COPD says gotta ya now. So far no pneumonia this year. Motto today is just keep sucking AIR. I am trying CoQ10 anyone heard of it. Did it help?
