Ok folks so I been dealing with COPD etc. for a long time and have never heard of the term SOB. What does it mean? Last time I heard it meant cuss words.

Gee, I have always appreciated that SOB/short of breath also means SOB/son of a biatch. Truth in advertising, you know?

Fyi, I once asked very top pulmonologist what the correlation was between being SOB and oxygen levels or lung function. He replied that he wished he knew. Has patients all across the COPD spectrum suffering dyspnea ranging from mild to crippling.

The only answer I have ever got is that my SOB is caused by the fact that my oxygen and Co2 exchange was very poor. When you give that some thought, it sounds as maybe the lungs are so damaged that everything is working in slow motion.. Like walking in deep mud and having to slowly pull each foot out to advance.

Well, that's enough for me , I am beginning to feel really taxed. just thinking about it. Lol.

Maybe one of you has a better explanation.
