Good article. My hubby had dental issues (and sinus problems ) for years when we first meant..............several years ago he had all his teeth pulled and almost immediately he felt better and since then has not had any of the same issues.

Now that is a little drastic course.........but his teeth were beary bad and "fixing" them would have cost us a fortune, and that was back in the day when we had insurance....................so he opted to just have them pulled and has no regrets. :)

Dental problems will shut down a lot of surgical procedures. I learned of this a couple of years ago when my dad (at the time 90 years old) had to have a stent put in his aorta. They wouldn't perform the procedure until his dental work was done.

His stent is now expanding, and there probably isn't anything that can be done about it at this time.

BTY: my mom and dad just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on July 1st.

God Bless your parents. In an age where most people can't make marriages last 69 days, (i.e. Kim Kardashian and JackieOno. That will probably be the only time we can be mentioned in the same breath) 69 years is quite an accomplishment. Commitment and love conquers ALL.

Very good article Gary, thanks for sharing. And your parents have been an inspiration to so many people, congratulations...it is hard to imagine so many years .
But yes, oral hygiene is so very important, and the ease at which blood poisoning can set in bad teeth and gums would certainly work against surgery.

DEBBEAR, tell Bob, he gets a high five from me!! I had bad teeth for years and really suffered,eventually had them all out. I could afford dentures, tried them, but prefer they stay in a cup.No more problems.
