Hi ya'll , I've been visiting this site for awhile and have learned so much about COPD. I was diagnosed a few years ago. I was somewhat familiar with it, having lost both parents to complications from COPD.
I did not know about Alpha 1, or to ask my Dr. what my Fev #'s were. I thought the best way to deal with it was to keep it to myself, and suffer in silence. So thank you for providing me an outlet, and so much info.

So they found there was no hereditary cause of your Emphysema?
Having both parents with it seems like more than happenstance!

Glad you found us !! A great place for meeting of the minds. You will find so much helpful information as well as sharing your thoughts & feelings. Sometimes it helps to come here and eliminate some of your fears. I have had COPD for years I just didn't want to acknowledge it. My mother passed away from emphysema too.

A1AD is alot different than the more common type of Emphysema and is treated differently! It's a much more aggressive and destructive lung disease!
You are not alone if you come by here. We know and sympathize with what you suffer because of our own sufferings.
