Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I am not the best cook in the world, but I do avoid processed foods for the most part, so I do not know if that would help you with your enzymes? I also have GI issues, so what I cook is a little on the basic side AND I am not the greatest cook, I don't measure, so you'd kinda be on your own with that kinda thing...Take your chances!
Here's one thing that does not make me sick
Banana Pancakes
- Wheat Flour (you can use rice flour, I don't use white flour anymore, but I guess you could use Bisquick if you want to make it easy...all depends on your enzyme issue?)
-Coconut Milk (I'm lactose intolerant, you can use almond milk, dairy milk, soy is really hard to digest...I have found plain coconut milk has the mildest taste and the easiest to digest)
-Fresh Ground Flax (has to be fresh ground-not already ground...you can buy it at a health food store and get it ground there or buy some and grind it in a coffee grinder)
- Mashed up Banana (consistency of baby food)
- Dried Coconut Flakes
Mix the flour, milk, banana and some of the dried coconut flakes together. Put some of the ground flax in a lightly heated pan - Flax has it's own natural oil, so you don't really need any other oil or Pam- low heat should bring out the natural oil in the flax, enough to cook with, but you can always add a little cooking spray if you want.
Toss the rest of the flax into the pancake mix, Make Pancakes.
Sprinkle dried coconut flakes on top. Voila! Flax is awesome for your hair and nails, and also good at keeping your Cholesterol in check.
OK, I hate vegetables so and I can't digest whole fruits and vegetables- they have to be mashed, blended, or I can but baby food.
If you have a blender or can borrow one here are 2 more easy things to make
Sweet potato Smoothie
- Sweet potato
- Carrots
Coconut milk
-cinnamon and nutmeg
Blend it all together- tastes sweet, easy to digest, sweet potatoes are super good for you and you won't even taste the carrots!
Last One- Home Made Gingerale
-Ginger Root
-Seltzer Water
Pure cane sugar
Put the Ginger root in the blender, strain it, add seltzer water and cane sugar to taste- very soothing to GI system even more so than Store bought, and you can add the strained Ginger into a Sweet potato smoothie if you want :)
Not sure if these would use up too many enzymes or are just too boring?
Happy cooking!

I've heard of this...but how does it taste? How do you hide the Cauliflower-iness of the side dish? Also is is made with out dairy, butter, salt, and any other type of oil?
I'm sure I could modify the recipe, but I really want to know how close it tastes to real mashed potatoes!
I really like to hide vegertables, since I m not a big fan..I make meatballs with ground turkey mixed with chopped mushrooms-the mushrooms make the meatballs look like regular meatballs, add some bulk to them, and you save a ton of money by using less ground turkey. Then I ad a pureed mixtured of spinach, tomoato, peppers, ground flax and oats to kind of hold it all together and broil them to get any fat from the ground turkey out...they are not too bad, and the 6 year old across the hall loves them and has no idea she is eating almost a whole serving of vegetables!
Lulu, I take all the "healthy" out of those cauliflower! I don't believe it would pass your test. I use a head of cauliflower though, a small tub of cream cheese with chives, and I use a natures seasons vegetable seasoning. Boil and drain the cauliflower then mash it in your pot, mix in the cream cheese, and season. I don't know if this is how it is typically made, it was an experiment for me, but super duper tasty and a really quick easy side:)
Awesome! LuLu
1/4 - 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken cut/torn into bite size pieces
1-2 cups heavy cream
Cajun Seasoning
Angel Hair Pasta
Pat of butter
Coat the chicken in cajun seasoning (around 2 tablespoons - more for spicier taste). Melt butter in sautee pan on medium heat, add chicken to heat through (I like to get a few browned pieces in there). I usually add mushrooms to mine but you can add red/yellow bell peppers too. Once chicken is heated and any veggies are tender, add heavy cream. Let simmer on low while cooking angel hair pasta. Drain pasta and top with chicken & sauce and shredded parmesan cheese. Its DELISH!
Ok so I typed this VERY quickly so let me know if any of the directions don't make sense LOL
1lb ground beef, browned & drained (season with salt & pepper & add diced onion OR dried minced onion IF you have it)
1 lg can or 2 small cans medium spice red enchilada sauce
Flour tortillas (to fit into an 8x8 or 9x9 baking dish)
2-3 cups of cheddar jack cheese
Black olives
Pour sauce into a pie plate. Spray baking pan with Pam. Dip 1 tortilla into sauce covering all of it and lay into baking dish. Spoon on some of the ground beef (about 1/4 of the mixture), cover with cheese, sprinkle on some sliced olives. Dip another tortilla into sauce and lay on top of the first layer, add 1/4 of the mixture, some cheese & olive slices. Repeat until all ground beef is used up. The top layer should be 1 flour tortilla dipped in sauce, cheese, then olives. Bake uncovered at 350 for about 30 minutes. This will ABSOLUTELY fit in a toaster oven :)
Again let me know if any of the directions don't make sense lol. The left overs can be frozen :)
