Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

Does anyone know why the nurses want the infusion to go fast? I thought they got paid by the hour?

But they get paid more for the first hour.

Sometimes they want to beat the traffic. The day that I had the biggest confrontation with my nurse I overheard her saying that she hated driving home at 6:00 (which was when my infusion was slated to end).

Another reason that I heard through the grapevine was that some of the medical facilities don't allow the nurses to go to the bathroom or anything except on their breaks.

sometimes they just have something else to do that there just not telling you if you listen you catch on pretty easy....sometimes kids to pick up or another appt. or getting back to the office.

I usually start my infusion around 9:30am or 10am and I'm done by 3pm. The nurse at my clinic will stay however long she's needed. I think it's lack of education, personally. I think they don't know that IVIG shouldn't go that fast. I'm going for an infusion tomorrow, and I'm going to find out what my rates are.

Mark, what do you mean they get paid more for the first hour?
