Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I've got a swollen gland in my neck. I've been to GP and am back there again on Friday but I've read that it's common with immune disorders. Is that true or is it going to be something sinister?

It is very common with CVID as the lymphs react to even the slightest change in medical. Hope it settle down and all is good.

I have a gland on my neck that keeps swelling up. Makes sense that it is tied in with cvid.

Swollen lymph glands are very common for CVID'ers. I have had them since as far back as I can remember. Sometimes of course, they are worse than others depending on my general health at the time. Don't worry too much about them but just make sure that you and your doctor keep tabs and watch for changes.

I have one that stays swollen on my neck...but the ones that are on my inner arms (near elbows) always swell and ache right before I'm about to get really ill. Like a early warning system. Doesn't help me NOT get ill, but at least I know what's coming.

I had a ct scan a year ago w and w/o contrast. No fun and I got an alarming call back. My lymph nodes in my arm pits were enlarged. They were concerned and sent me for a mammogram. I am only 35 so I kindly freaked out. It was just swollen glands and nothing else until now. I go tomorrow for another. Im hoping they are not as big this time but who knows. Dr said it could be from an infection I was fighting but we shall see.

I've also had swollen lymph nodes most of my life. No one ever figured out what that was about. Only since my CVID diagnosis 2 years ago do I know what caused all the many respiratory and digestive illnesses throughout my life.

Last night before my ivig home infusion, i noticed my lymphs were quite swollen. Post ivig, the swelling had subsided.

This is the first time I'm posting here. Have been reading the entries and feeling like i needed to stop hiding out. It does feel really good to know that others here know what i've been going through my entire life. I've also already made an appointment with rheumatologist because of a posting by Kelli. Thank you! I have swollen lymphs in my neck and at the base of my skull that have been swollen for the most part of a year. They get bigger and smaller according to if I'm sick or not. I even had a biopsy on one under my arm before I was diagnosed with CVID and they found nothing. I have had 1 IVIG treatment in January and am anxious to have my second and hopefully see my glands unswell.

The lynph nodes in my neck swell on and off. Sometimes the pain is awful at other times just annoying. I guess it is just another commonality with CVID
