Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I can't remember the last time in my adult life that I had a fever.
Wednesday evening I suddenly developed a fever of 102 that was back down to normal by bedtime. I celebrated! I was getting sick like a normal person!
Nothing Thursday.
Friday afternoon started feeling crummy, developed a rash, and by 6pm spiked a fever of just over 104. We were really close to calling an ambulance. At 4 pm I was grocery shopping and at 6 I was barely able to walk. Half an hour later after two advil my temperature was back down to 101 and normal by 9pm.
Saturday, no fever but the rash got worse My cheeks were bright red and I had a splotchy/spotty full body mildly itchy rash.
Sunday, the rash is lighter, and the whole fever thing seems to be over.
I really don't understand what happened. The only part that scared me, at the time, was when the fever was over 104, because it had gone up so quickly. Can a normal virus give someone sudden short lived fevers like this? I'll talk to my doc when I see her next week it's all been very strange. I'm still a lovely shade of pink. :)

after that i got pnuemonia and pluerisy....i never got a rsah ours may not be coneected but my stmach was hurting also....he did complain that he was having trouble breathing...he goes back this wed for a follow up so i will try to remember what the doc says....
What's next? Mumps? My doctor will be amused, because last week I reminded her that I never get fevers. :)

I have had many days that you describe. The fevers, the flushing, burning skin, all sorts of seemingly unrelated weird symptoms. If you do end up with the classic butterfly mask, I would run to the dr. for the tests.
Hope things get better for you soon.
I didn't end up in the ER because it responded so quickly to advil and tylenol. If it hadn't come down quickly, or had gone higher, I had my husband and son watching me like a pair of mother hens with phones at the ready. The transition from fine, to really sick, to much better, was so quick it was baffling. But, the "fifth disease" virus explains it.
