Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

You are a hero. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this must be for you and your family.
I would guess that hearing your new diagnosis was devastating. You are a brave and wonderful soul for sharing with us. I wish that there were more I could offer you than written words alone. You are an amazing, loving, good person who did not deserve another stellar fight on your hands, but my instincts are that you will carry on in such grace and nail this thing until it is gone.
I am having an endoscopy on Wednesday finally after a few months of your symptoms. I was actually in the hospital for a week last month and they never did an endoscopy, even though I had very similar symptoms. Since then I have continued to struggle, but found a new doctor who immediately ordered the scope. Constantly feeling full, burbing or trying to, suddenly throwing up without warning, black stools off and on, and a wicked sore throat that comes and goes. Fatigue and nauseau that rules my life, and a few other just plain weird things that I doubt have any significance..
Does this sound familiar to you? When I was in the hospital I begged for a scope but was actually told, and I quote, " Why?. If it is an ulcer or something, we would just treat it the same way with these pills, Protonix. Have one later on if you want to go through all that." We, my family and I were stunned. I mean what the hell..?
Tell me how long you had symptoms before you got diagnosed? I assume that once you were vomiting blood things went swiftly... but who knows with some of the doctors I've encountered they might have dragged their feet.
Enough about my struggles.
I can't thank you enough for posting your story. I am hanging on your every word and praying for good things for you. As I said, you ARE a hero.
Bless your heart Fezzy! It's hard to say how long I had symptoms, probably not more than a few months. I also got sent home with protonix from my late night trip to the emergency room and was working on getting a gastro consult when I just wasn't any better off on Tuesday morning and headed back to the emergency room. Not sure if you've had a CT scan, but that was the thing that really got their attention with me.
If you want to talk, send me a phone number by message, or I can send you mine, just send a quick note. Holding you in my heart until then...
Sending you much love and the blessings of the Medicine Buddha your way.
In any case, I'm still getting my head around the cancer stuff. Made the mistake of reading some things on advanced stomach cancer today! Ouch! It just sounds bad. On the plus side, at this point I'm pretty convinced that I am not bleeding internally at all and I attribute that directly to the chemo and radiation. Probably more the radiation, but if it is already doing something to the big tumor, I can be hopeful that the other stuff in my lungs and liver are also getting some ass whooping by the chemo (and those lymph nodes too!).
So, overall I'm good and I appreciate everyone's support. It's amazing the positive power of so many people aiming best wishes, prayers, thoughts and ideas my way. :o)
Ok, enough out of me. I'm grateful for life. Live it well, and thanks for listening.
