Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I am about to get my next IVIG treatment and I am concerned about how I feel. My normal cycle is that every 3 weeks I have my 40mg IVIG infusion on Friday, feel very tired and may have some minor aches and pains in my head, neck and spine that slowly get better over the next three days. On Saturday I am a little tired and on Sunday I am exhausted. Sometime mid Monday I all of a sudden have a surge of energy that slowly declines until time for my next treatment but I still feel good. Well, my infusion was late by 5 days last time and I have been feeling "pre IVIG " exhausted ever since. My next infusion is tomorrow(5 days early) and will get me back to the previous schedule but I am having the same head, neck and spine pain I have as a mild IVIG reaction. I am still very tired and I worry what it will be like for the next 3 weeks. Has anyone else had these symptoms NOT right after your infusion?
i can do 55 g ivig in 4-6 hrs now and i feel like i have the flu that day and night but usually fine by the next day....i have had 2 infusions now at the higher rate so with a few more i expect to have the flu like feeling get better....
