Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I may be moving to Yorktown Heights, New York. Does anyone have a recommendation for a dr in the area who deals with CVID?

Mt. Sinai in NYC has a fabulous department. Dr. Charlotte Cunningham - Rundles heads it. She is not so warm and fuzzy, but is one of the most knowledgeable in the US.

My doctor at Stanford said "I do research, but I'm no Charlotte Cunningham Rundles" almost like she's a mentor to him. That was the first time I'd ever heard of her.

I will certainly try to get into the department if we make the move. It is just a possibility at the moment but I wanted to know if there were any reasons to just say no way. Between the feed back here on my medical problems and the feedback from others on the school district it is looking like it may be a great fit for the entire family.

I have read quite a bit about her and she seems awesome. Her patients love her so she must have some bedside manner.

but I've met Dr. CCR several times through the IDF . . .and she wants my blood . . . and that of my daughter and son who also have CVID
