Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

Stomach issues and frequent food poisoning were my first CVID symptoms. My understanding is IgA protects the gut and most IVIGs contain mainly IgG still leaving the gut sensitive. For me, I also developed a gluten intolerance with the CVID onset. I am hypervigilent of my food and avoid uncontrolled or possibly contaminated food... I frequently get sick even at nice restaraunts... I avoid buffets, salad bars, any food not freshly prepared, and seafood from unknown sources. I am also skeptical of leftovers. Like others, I find I stay healthier if I am able to prepare my own food. Good luck!
