Yes its totally possible. Could be its as simple as it was too fast. Could possibly be mitigated with premeds and / or stopping the infusion for 10 minutes or so. I used to get rigors during my infusions and i could feel them coming on. Crazy :)

I was concerned when I read the gammunex information and it said that hives and fever were reasons to go to ER. I deferred to my nurse though who has been texting me regularly this evening. She said if I had any breathing trouble whatsoever to go to ER - otherwise just keep up the benedryl and the hydration.

I've decided this is just a super awesome batch that saw a problem and went straight to work :-D Hives are already much better. Fever is a good reason to stay home from work tomorrow. I've already been working about 20 hours of OT per week. I needed a break!

Aw I hope you are better today. Agree about any breathing issues, thats a big warning sign not to mess with. Are you IGA Deficient? I hope your nurse reports the adverse reaction...tracking this stuff is super important. Let us know how your'e doing today?

I had not had a reaction for years, then a few weeks ago suddenly my temp went to 101.5. Well, to make a long story short, my IVIG pharmacist has changed me to a different lot number, no reactions since. What an easy fix.

I can't answer your question since I will be having my 3rd infusion in 2 days, and I have only had minor reactions so far, but I am glad you are feeling better than you were 6 months ago, I am really looking forward to that myself! I hope the hives and fever resolve quickly and you are back to what is normal for you soon. Cindy

I can only speak of my own experience... my answer is HELL YES!!
I was only on my 6th infusion when I got hit. My reactions were pretty dramatic, vomiting, fever, just intensely sick. I ended up in the hospital for a week. Since I did not get really sick until the day after my infusion no one would blame the IVIG. In my mind there was only one reason and that was my Gammaguard. The hospital doctor just treated my symptoms agressively and I survived. A month later when I went in for my next infusion my immunologist had switched me to Privigen. It ended up being a great choice for me and I never had another reaction of any kind following my infusion. I am now on SubQ and almost symptom free. (I still get an occasional stomach ache).

Having such a violent reaction is scary. I was pretty sure that I would die but it just wasn't my time I suppose. Meanwhile, welcome to the club and thanks for adding your experiences along with everyone else. At some point all of our experiences will help others coming down the road.
