Fever and migraine are common side effects of Infusions. Can I ask how well you are hydrating? You really want to get well hydrated the day before, the day of and the day after your infusion. If you are getting well hydrated, then you may want to call your Immuno. Your immuno can order pre-meds like Tylenol, Benadryl, and sometimes even Prednisone to help with side effects from infusions.

I'm hydrating very well and don't generally have any ill effects the day of or the day after...it's always two days after. It seems odd to me that it would take that long to show up, but maybe it can. I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Sometimes our adrenaline holds back colds and ilnesses. Perhaps it does w this too until you relax the fight goes out of you. Delayed side effects. I've had 3 infusions so far. The first two, i got super bad vascular headaces that even my migraine meds wouldnt ease. I found no remedy. So the last one they skipped the steroids, and literally overdosed me on Benadryl. I slept through the whole infusion. I slept as soon as i got home, and for 20brs after that. I got a migrain. I think it was from dehydration because w all that sleep i stopped drinkin, plus lying down for so long, and possible a side effect from the large dose of Benadryl. Iwould tell your hemo. I have to do labs n see my hemo before each infusion. They are SO knowledgeable! Maybe he can lower your steroids and explain your delayed reaction.

I spoke with my Immunologist and he suggests taking preventative Ibuprofen...going in on Wednesday for another Infusion and hoping it helps. Thanks for all of the input!

Yeah! I had another Infusion on Wednesday and didn't get flu-like symptoms...this time I broke out in hives during the Infusion...but I was fine afterward. Such is life I guess, huh? They gave me some steroids and steroid cream.

I see my Immuno on Monday and should get more answers. Hoping I don't have to do preventative Steroids. Argh. Anyone know much about them?

I don't do well with steroids but my body is sensitive. I was really sensitive to the side effects also.

Here's the deal. My dr says if you go 2 infusions with hydration, slowing the rate and still having bad side effects it's the wrong med. How long are your infusions? Have they slowed them each time you complained of symptoms? And are they using they same ivig med every time?

I have my infusions on Saturdays. What they do with me is they split the dose to twice a month, 8 hr infusion(I have a port), I hydrate with 100 ounces of vita coconut water on Thursday, 120 Friday, 130 Saturday, 120 Sunday and they changed my medicine to gammaplex Bc it has hydration in it and has least side effects. IF I hydrate, Sunday I might take a nap with a slight headache but I wake up full of energy.

Hi Sheriann. I was previously on Hizentra / due to side effects was switched to gammunex about a year ago. I had tried many brands before finding the one that worked best for me .
Most of my reactions like you were delayed reactions 48-72 hours post infusion . Slowing the infusion rate made a huge difference with the headaches as well as changing brands of ivig . Please keep a list of all the side effects you are having and share them with your Dr. at your next visit . I know its frustrating but once this gets sorted you will feel better .

Well, I saw my doc and now I have to get my Infusion out of a glass vial at a slower rate. (I got a hive two Infusions ago.) So my Infusions take about six hours...but I had my first one like that and it all went very well! Hooray! Thanks for all of your input!
