Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
Hi guys! Based on conversations in this group, I upped my water/re-hydration drinks like crazy yesterday and this morning, and had no coffee prior to my IVIg today (31g Gamunex). I also had an Atavan to calm me down, as I am very nervous about these procedures (needle phobia!).
It went really well. I kept guzzling water like crazy during the procedure, and told the nurses that they simply couldn't use my hands for the IV, as they had in the past (too painful). My veins are small and really deep in my arms, so the nurse did go for one alongside my wrist, but I told her to keep it as far away from the wrist joint as possible.
I have a mild headache, and I am a bit tired, but that is it. Yay!
I wish everyone else luck with their next IV, and thank you to everyone who has offered me advice/info, it seems to have really helped me out!

So good to hear the good news! I fully believe preparation is key to successful IV's. Please let us know how you feel today :)

I had a great sleep last night (conked out by nine), and had a lot of liquid to drink again today, as well as when I came home from the hospital. I feel wonderful! I am collecting my blood test results online right now, and plan to do a comparison between this test and the previous, just to keep track of everything.
