Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I wanted to let you know about the success I have with zicam. Whenever I fly or have been around someone who obviously has a cold I take zicam for 48 hours and rarely get a cold now. I don't wait for symptoms to occur, I just start taking the medication. I may have a slight cough for a day or so but nothing like it is if I catch a cold and don't use zicam. If I wait until I cough, the cold is relatively mild but still takes its toll.. My thought process is similar to being on prophylactic antibiotics. If I take it heading into a high risk environment, I stay healthier overall. The way it works is by lowering the ability of the virus to reproduce and therefore the symptoms are less. I am not a doctor but I wanted to share my experiences.

You mentioned this before. I ran out to Walgreens and picked some up. I plan to use it each time I get on a plane (not traveling again till January. I am thinking I might even use it when going into the Mall shopping, especially this time of year. Thanks Marilyn. It's a great tip!!!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
