Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I am proud of myself today but I still feel guilty. I feel something coming on and decided to rest the entire time my kids are in school today. I have had the very start of a sore throat since Sunday but it got worse last night. I do not have a fever yet so I am hoping I can fight this before I get an infection. I planned to pack for my trip to India on Monday. I have my infusion tomorrow and I am typically tired all weekend so I wanted to get it done before hand. I also have all the normal stuff to do but I have been sitting on the couch eating soup, drinking smart water and only getting up when I really needed to do something. I feel like such a slacker because before my diagnosis I would never have taken this time. I would have run myself half to death and only stopped once I was running a high fever and needed high powered antibiotics.

Wow Marilyn! How cool that you are going to India! Passage to India is one of my favorite movies... as is Kama Sutra! Both depict India as so mysterious and magical. Anyway, I think when we are young we do stuff like overwhelm our bodies as if we have superhuman strength - even when we don't feel good. And perhaps when we are younger, we ARE blessed with a surplus of energy, drive, and determination. The good thing about getting a little older is the wisdom to see the bigger consequences of our actions. So, don't feel guilty for having the wisdom to slow down, and taking care of yourself in these moments - it is all part of the preparation for making the most of your trip! Lord knows you don't want to feel miserable in the plane. Life is wonderful... by taking care of yourself now, you may avoid having to take those high powered antibiotics. But I'm not saying anything you don't already know. Bon Voyage.

Marilyn, dont question your choices. Specially if guilt plays any role on it. Guilt is a powerful, painful but extremely important and healthy feeling. Guilt is what God or Mother nature gave us to keep the balance of things. Guilt means you have a strong sense of responsibility for your actions, for your health and you dont 'leave it to chance'. I embrace guilt when I feel it, I know I wont overdo what I am doing and I know I am keeping myself in check. Now DO NOT let it take over you. Balance that guilt with self love, and indulge in your health and well being. And feeling proud of what you did should be the resolution of embracing that sense of guilt. All feelings are in us for a purpose. Please get your throat checked before your trip. Strep Throat has no respect for people with normal immune systems, imagine one of us. Better to treat early than late. Peace, love, fun and rest, lots and lots of rest, and hopefuly embracing that guilt will lead to guiltless pleasure!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
