Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I hope the iGgs infusions are keeping you healthy. If so, i wouldnt be alarmed by the other numbers.
I enciurage you to Ask you doc for more information if you have additional concerns.
When first tested, my IgG was well below normal and my IgA was just a hair below normal. My Primary problems are all in my GI Tract. However, I've been getting Infusions for about 2 1/ 2 years and I have not had a single infection. I do have some GI discomfort that I deal with through diet and some occasional meds, but the incessant C-Diff is gone even with IgA levels that are out of range.
Since starting IVIG, my IgG has stayed in range and my IgA and
my IgM both fluctuate slightly going from the very low end of normal to just shy of normal.
I have absolutely no idea why this is, but I have been healthy and my Immuno has not made any changes to my dose or frequency. I see him in October though, and this is a good question- I will ask him and see what he has to say..
Cheers to good health!
