Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I have my first IVIG treatment this Friday. I talked to my immun guy this morning and he expects no problems. I'm gonna drink a lot this week and take tylenol before, although he said that I did not need to. The weird thing is that my insurance only per-authorized 3 treatments. The first in the hospital and the next 2 at home. Is that really weird? My immuno nurse said that she called and insurance is standing firm so they want me to call after my last one and they can try to get another round for at least 6 months, or hopefully a year. Has this happened to any one else?

My insurance has to approve my subq treatments every single month. i've never had a problem with them approving it though. it's just how mine works i guess. mine is billed as major medical so i don't pay any copays or anything at all. maybe that is the case with your insurance as well?
i too take the tylenol before, i've only had 2 & they come to my house.
