hope you get some good ig and things improve......the vaccines are hard...my doc told me it just makes our weakened immune system work harder so that would explain the exhaustion...i asked my immune doc and he told me not to do the flu anymore just everyone living in the house needs to....do you know if you build immune to the ones you are getting? i dont to so many of them but i dont remember what i do and dont ....my daughter is the same she had to have a doc note staing she had the vaccines because when tested for school clearance it looked like she had not had them....

I cannot tell you how many times I have been boosted because everytime they checked titers I did not have them. I was always thought of a poor responder, now I have an explanation why. Everytime I got a vaccine I felt so tired and achy. It must be hard with the upcoming trip. I hope you can still have a good time and that the exhaustion will go away soon. Keep a positive mind, it helps tons.

Marilyn - are your trough levels too low? IVIG only has a (don't quote me down to the day please lol) 21 day half life? I need to go through my notes from the conference again, but I do recall one of the docs discussing trough levels and how they need to be much higher than most are. If your trough levels are low, you will feel more exhausted, achy, and may even notice you are starting to "come down" with something. Hang in there ((hugs)) for your upcoming adventure!

Our docs looked at vaccinations much differently. They didn't believe the vaccinations would have any benefit since my daughter had not retained any benefit from her previous vaccinations, particularly the polysaccharides.
Their approach was that we get acquired immunity from the IG therapy we receive and there is no need and no benefit from additional vaccinations. If you haven't built immunity from your previous vaccinations, there is no reason why the additional ones would work.
That opinion was from two prominent immunologists, Dr. Jordan Orange, the chairman of the AAAAI Primary Immunology Committee and Dr. Mel Berger, who is now the senior clinical director at CSL Behring.
You might want to have your immunologist do a peer consultation through the IDF with an other expert immunologist.
In any event, enjoy your trip. My then 15 year old daughter was going to China with her high school Chinese class for three weeks at the time. As part of the trip they were going into some very rural areas and that's why we were concerned about vaccinations. She was not yet on regular IG therapy, but did have specific antibody deficiencies. We gave her two infusions before she left and one when she returned. She is now on weekly subQ as she was later diagnosed with CVID.
She is now at college and instead of getting additional vaccinations, a requirement for living in a dorm, Dr. Orange simply wrote a letter saying she was on regular IG therapy and that gave her the required immunity. It also sufficed for the vaccination requirements for the nursing school.

I do have some response to some vaccines. I had tetnus titers in the 1.75 range before IVIG so they recommend getting the booster. Also, most people do not get a Typhoid vaccine in the US so they do not think I will have immunity for that from the IVIG therapy so that was highly recommended. Also, most adults do not have HepA or Hep B at this time. The doctor said that is changing and in 10 years or so it will be in the IVIG because most parents are giving their children those vaccines.

My levels are good. My doctor has me getting infusions every three weeks because the gammagard S/D low IgA has a 21 day half life. I know that my body is at least trying to work because this is how I would feel before IVIG when I went from being a little sick (day to day sick) to going to the Dr.'s office and needing high powered drugs.

My nurse should be here soon so I am going to get off for now and rest until she arrives.
