Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
My insurance is changing from Medco Accredo to CVS Caremark. I currently get my infusions at home through Medco so I assume I will have to change my nurse and get approval again. The cost is also going up significantly. Anyone use CVS Caremark?

My insurance pharmacy benefits changed to CVS Caremark last January. I had no problem being approved for Hizentra. All they required was that I have a diagnosis of CVID. The cost depends on your specific policy but I take 40ml of Hizentra every week and it costs me $45 a month. I give myself the infusions and because I had experience giving myself infusions, I was not required to have another nurse visit. I have found them delightful to work with.

I have CVS Caremark, and I receive my Privigen without any problem and without a copay (unless they are planning to sock it to me later one down the line!). However, I was not initially approved for Hizentra, which is okay because I actually prefer only having to worry about this once a month. I am not sure if the decision was made by CVS or my medical insurance, though.

Thanks for the information. i was told that when the pharmacy cards come in to call them back and they will help me find a nurse.

I am going through the same exact thing. I was on Cobra until Oct 31 and used to get my hizentra through Bio Rx, now I am on BC/BS NC and having to go through Caremark for the approval and still has not gone through. They said I would hear back from them in about 5-10 days.....

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
