Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

How can I tell if this is me?


This is my list of troubles.

Having a real hard time of it lately as on Sunday last nearly died from throat swelling so bad it chocked me out.

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble right now. It sounds like you're really struggling. The best way to find out if you have CVID is to see an Immunologist. An immunologist can run the specific blood work that is necessary to determine if you have an immune disorder. All of your antibody levels need to be tested and the Dr needs to check your response to pneumonia vaccine as well before you can be diagnosed.

Sorry took so long on this.. I had Pneumonia Vaccine 15 years ago. They said it will last my lifetime. I also saw an immunologist in 2015 he just said I was intolerant to foods that I needed to determine. Turned out I was intolerant to nearly every food available. I left my wife of 21 years in December to let her have a life of her own without my making her even more miserable than I already had for the last 5 years.
My problem is I have moved to a new location and doctors here are hard to convince as they know nothing about me yet! It's having a big toll on my psyche. I'm battling on trying to make head or tail of everything whilst feeling like an alcoholic with certain foods that want to kill me. All I can do is take 1 nail out of my coffin at a time whilst every now and again the system keeps knocking in more and more.
Their not helping at all!
