Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
Don't know about bursitis but I have arthritis, and boy does it hurt..My fingers, knees, hips and back..
We finally had some rain so this set it off, but the humidity in the summer does the same..I love putting my hands in hot water..awe....When they did the scan I lit up like a Christmas tree..I have all these little white dots all over the place..My doc said, "NO wonder you hurt". DUH?
The things we go through to make through to tomorrow..
I use my Lidoderm patches..
Sending you some healing thoughts..
Cheryl
Have to have synvisk in my knee every 6-9 months the other knee is a prostetic one had it done in 2010
One of the effects of undiog cvid is large joint damage
I was 49 when diog three years ago
I can't relate as I don't have issues like this at this time in my life but just wanted to wish you well and pray that the pain decreases for you soon and some of the others experiencing pain offer helpful suggestions for you. - Zen
Luckily, I have not had bursitis, but I too, know that I am needing to get my joint pain looked at as it has aggressively progressed.
I think we all learn to cope with the bone pain from CVID, but when we feel it getting much more, you know it is something new.
For me, I get really bad leg cramps followed by muscle spasms in my back. Also, I have a lot of pain in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and knuckles. And my feet are always numb, feel like lead and that 1000's of needles are poking me.
And thanks to 2 knees surgeries when I was 18, I have a lot of pain with stairs now. I've ignored that as I cannot fathom the thought a 3rd knee surgery.
It's so embarrassing when you feel like an old lady and know this is not you.
The RA doctor should be able to determine Lupus, Sjorgens, RA, etc.....
CVID.... the disease that just keeps on giving.......
It truly sucks, sounds like you are on the path to finding out and getting treatment. Remember, cold air is not nice to the joints. Maybe get some heat packs on your hips and bum.
Get those cranky joints better and moving.
Light and Love,
Denise
So sorry you are in pain and discomfort. I also experience the "itis'" problem....mostly tendinitis, but I have experienced bursitis as well! My SI joints and knees have been the latest spots ravaged, and pain control has been very complicated and often ineffective. I find being in the pool is my best place and my paraffin hand waxing machine is heavenly...I too had months with severe limitations in hand use...to the point we had to change all the door knobs as I kept getting trapped in the house!!
Wishing you feel better soon!
Cheers, Andrea
So the first time I got a cortisone shot. Ugg bad idea. Im not sure if my dr hit a nerve somewhere or if I had some weird reaction. I was on my back in serious pain. Its supposed to be for pain and inflammation so im not sure what happened. After two weeks of misery after the shot it got much better. Mine is back with a vengeance. i would consider it again. So advise I have after my situation..
Two aleve before bed every night. For me even if it barely hurts that night I take it any way seems to help cut down on the pain during the day.
Stretching and exercise. So the two I do that over a time you will feel the difference I will try to describe.
Number one Leg lifts.. Just on your side lift your other leg up and down and hold for a few when you lift it. Do it twice a day or even once when your watching tv and it will help.
Put both arms on a door and bend your lower torso in and out while kinda doing push ups on the door. Hard to explain but it helps. For some reason stretching helps as well. Warm baths ohh and the muscle rub you can get for super cheep works wonders. totally worth the few bucks. You can even get it at the dollor tree.
GOOD LUCK.. People have no idea how Painful bursitis can be. My thoughts are with ya! Ohh and Tylenol during the day for me.
when I Started calcium chews my joint pain improrved a little. Also water and lots of it. Good luck!
It really is painful...just one more thing to irritate. I find that Aleve and ibuprofen really don't make much of a dent in my pain. I had a trial pack of Celebrex once from my GP and I think that helped...but that was awhile ago. My biggest save seems to be rest, which can be hard to get some days.
Carrying on....
Meloxicam Took the pain straight away.. Love Loved it. Its just a antinflamitory. For me it hated me took my bp straight up. Might be something to check into. Worked so well
I also have CVID and joint pain in my left hip. I suspect it is bursitis. I believe all three bursae in that hip are inflamed. I have an apt with an orthopedic surgeon in 3 days - Fri May 30th. I was diagnosed with CVID in July 2013, but just starting IVIG infusions in 2 days - May 29, 2014. I'm still learning about CVID and all the things that it affects.
So did you go to the doctor about your bursitis and what can you share with me about what you learned? I'm eager to hear back from you about your experience and if your bursitis has been treated and if it is better now.
Thanks,
V McKie
I am still a work in progress. It looks as if I also have Lupus. My blood specialist doc, my GP, and my internist have all told me that is likely whay my additional issues are caused from. I had a positive ANA in January...have been on Hizentra since August and the joint pain has not resolved...in fact it was a rough winter...roughest one yet.
I started Plaquenil about 3 weeks ago...though that takes bout 2-3 months to kick in. Bursitis - had it in my hips years ago & it comes & goes....stretch, stretch, stretch. I do SubQ...in my thighs...think that might irritate it a bit more.
Sorry - not a wealth of knowledge ! I had a cortisone shot in one hip years ago but it's very short term, not overly helpful, and not good for you long term. *sigh*
