Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I also have something weird going on with the right side of my face, and I totally get the concern with stroke, as that is exactly what I thought the first time it happened to me. It looked like the whole right side of my face was drooped down. This was back in 2007. At the time I was being treated for lyme disease, and had read that bell's palsy sometimes happened with lyme patients.
I never got to the point where I couldn't move my facial muscles, and it doesn't hurt. The drooping and off kilter look dissipate as the day goes on, which doesn't happen with Bell's Palsy. For me, when it happens, it comes and goes within 1-3 days. Always worse in the morning, and seems less noticeable by afternoon.
A couple of years later, I was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor, which has since been removed. I have mentioned it to both my neurosurgeon, and neurologist, and both of them say hmmnnn, but not much else.
When it happens, it is much worse in the morning, and gets slowly less noticeable throughout the day. This has been going on for 6 years, and I have no idea what causes it. I think with myself, it might be somehow be connected to potential nerve damage from the brain tumor that I had in the opposite side of my head, but I don't know.
Sorry you are going through this. Did the ER doctor's have any suggestions on what you could do? Or am I correct in my memory that you just need to let it run it's course?
