Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
It seems this time of year the corners of my mouth crack and bleed and then I get this raised bumps on my tongue that are extremely painful and sore, they disappear and keep returning, do you think it is from a virus and could they be my taste buds, (well that probably is obvious) does anybody know what to do to alleviate the pain. thx

I have had mouth ulcers all my life since I was born, however I was just recently diagnosed with CVID so I don't know if it is or not. They think my mouth ulcer are related to an autoimmune disease. Good luck and a good question to ask your immunologist. Let us know too when you knows. sending hugs!

magic mouthwash works well just ask your doc he/she should know what you are talking about and on the rx it says magic mouth wash...the pharm will mix it... it numbs and has meds to get rid of the mess.....i keep it at all times....it is what the name says magic.....

yeah I've had mouth ulcers in the past too, Yuck, hate em. These are more like my taste buds are raised and swollen and sore and very painful.. No use asking dr. they just shrug their shoulders.

Oooh, great Pcon I will do that. Jeez they are SO annoying. Hope your doing well, for some reason this has been the first time I have been able to get on this site, something screwing with DS. Can only get on from a certain comp.

i had that problem too, luckily my mom is a dental hygenist and so i was able to get that same "magic mouth wash" pretty easily. mine were always getting infected so i was on antibiotics too. to alleviate pain i would put like oralgel on it, which sort of helps until they start to get better.

What is this magic mouth was b/c nothing but steriod took away my mouth, gential, stomach, colon, and skin ulcer.

Crazy CVIDS, I remember I was told that my salivary glands were infected and had to go on antibiotics, no little hole or crevice excapes!!!

Cracks at the corners of your mouth can be indicative of a vitamin B-6 deficiency...which can be caused by many medications (Theophylin is one). You might want to check out this website http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitaminb6 and also look up your medications at Drugs.com to see if you' might be deficient.

Stimpy, I get the same kind of weird raised bumps on my tongue. I also get apthous ulcers inside my mouth but only when I am having a Crohn's bout. Since I have been on Budesenide for IBD, I have not had apthous ulcers--but I still get those raised bumps on my tongue. I mentioned magic mouthwash to my immunologist and he had never heard of it. Help, people?
