Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

It seem that most of the top flight immunologists say treat the patient, not the levels.
The latest research suggests that the levels needed in a patients differ based up on what kind of CVID the patients has. CVID seems to be a conglomeration of over 150 different illness / conditions. It seems that patients with certain kind of B cell issues need to maintain higher levels to control their infections than patients with T-cell or compliment issues.
I guess my understanding is that levels mean very little after a diagnosis. The goad is to give a patients enough IG keep the number and severity of their infection to a controllable level; not to prevent all infections.
I'm currently at 80 grams every 4 weeks and it seems to be the correct amount.
As for dosing, I just found out that I'll be getting 60ml of Hizentra and I'm 41, 5'2" and 120 lbs. You're right, it doesn't make sense!
@Kelli: You are a terrific mother. My husband had to take the kids, cuz he threw me out with no job, and he was the only one with glowing health and money. I let him keep the kids, while I had them on weekends and whenever. My daughter is now 21 and we discuss this all the time, I tell her why I did what I did, (I wanted her to have the best of everything) and that I could barely keep my own head above water, etc. She said she would have been just as happy being with me rather her father (although she loves him very much, and he was a good father) she could have been poor. I really believe her. But she was so smart and talented, I wanted her to do her acting classes, go to camp, participate in everything she wanted to. I know she loves me very much, we talk on the phone at least every week. She is very busy building her fashion design business. There were times I literally wanted to commit suicide because I missed my kids so much, I cried and cried myself to sleep every night. All children want is your love and attention!!!!!!! My parents were always busy working to provide for us, which is fine. But my dad really never did anything with me. I would have been SO HAPPY for him to take me to the dime store and buy me something, or go get an ice cream cone together when I was little, sounds hokey, I know, but really now when I look back, those little things mean the WORLD. Its the small positive things you say to children, the little dumb things you share together. I am sure your daughter loves you immensely. I don't think she would love you any less if you were Poor. Right now I know you are just coping and hanging on. But don't ever think if it ever gets so bad you just can't do it anymore, that you shouldn't ask for help, like gong on disability. Maybe things will get better.
