did you have any premeds? i would suspect premeds before ig....

I always had trouble sleeping after my treatments, especially after they added steroids to my premeds. I have trouble sleeping frequently though, even without infusions and steroids.

I bet it's the steroids causing you trouble. I never have a problem sleeping after an infusion, but when I'm on steroids getting to sleep and staying asleep is a challenge.

I've always been really tired after my infusions when I was on IVIG. Steroids really keep me up, though. The best thing for me was a full dose of benadryl. Liquid benadryl works faster, in my opinion, and they have dye-free stuff too.

I get really tired after my infusion, to the point where I can't do anything within a few hours after I receive treatment. I normally have insomnia--that was something that happened after I developed CVID. What premedication are you taking?

I took Norco and Benadryl for premeds - doc wants to add steroids next time because of headache and nausea. I was tired, but unable to get quality sleep. I didn't sleep at all on Friday (2 days after tx). I didn't fall asleep until 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, and woke up every hour or so. At 9:00 I started to have a panic attack because I was supposed to go to my mom and dads and didn't think I could make it because of being so "strung out". They were worried, my husband was worried. I got about 4 hours sleep late Sunday morning, waking up at about 1:30. Last night I slept really well. Obviously I am not going to accept steroids - I'd rather be nauseus and headachy for a few days (it's practically been my baseline anyway) than have to go through with that experience again. Of course, it could have been unrelated to the IVIG, but I was just curious.;

I too have trouble sleeping, but I honestly don't think it is related to my CVID.
Personally I believe we get lots of stuff . . but all of it isn't related to our immune deficiency

I also suspect the premeds. Personally, I have never had any trouble sleeping after my infusions. I do not take premeds anymore at all. Originally I did, but in the last year or so I stopped since I usually go back to work following my infusion. I feel very lucky in that regard because I did suffer after affects for the first 6 months until my IVIG product was changed. I have been symptom free following infusions now for about 2 years. Sometimes I wonder if we take too many meds that might not be necessary. Don't get the wrong idea though, certainly it's not for everyone. I take a million pills for all sorts of things, so I just try to cut back wherever I can.

Have you tried an over the counter sleeping aid?

Mark - I think you are right about the insomnia, but just wanted to check. It has been a very stressful year, and I know I have a lot of anxiety. I have always struggled with sleep, but this was different, almost like a steroid reaction, even though there were not steroids involved. Correlation doesn't always equal causation. Thanks for the help though.

Fezzy - I already take a lot of medications for pain. I have a high tolerance. I did finally sleep well, and I am happy to say that for the first time in a year, I have not needed to take narcotic pain medication, anxiety meds, or muscle relaxers. This past week has been a good one - I worked a full week, got out to do chores today (Saturday) and have been feeling much more positive.

I tend to view my body over the past year as a "Perfect Storm" of multiple things going on at once - and I know you all know what I mean! Thanks folks.
