Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I just wanted to say a big "thank you" to this group! As I've said before, I have had CVID for 5 years, but just recently found this group and the IDF. I feel so much more in control of my disease now.

I called the IDF and got a list of doctors in my area and have an appointment with an Allergy/Immunologist after the first of the year. I'm hopeful that she will be more knowledgable about CVID than my current doctor. The only drawback is that they do not do infusions in their office and I'm not sure if my insurance will cover them, if they are not done in a doctor office. My insurance will be changing on January 1, so I'll have to wait and see.

Anyway, glad I found you all!

Welcome to this group! I know that I would not have gotten through the last six months without it--my life has changed for the better because of it. I am so glad that you found us, too.

This group has been my life line to understanding CVID and being able to discuss what's on my mind and I've found some very great people who have helped me get thru starting my subq in August and helping me to continue pushing on:) Welcome to the group and know that you will always have support here!!!!! I really don't know what I would have done:)

I'm waiting on Insurance approval right now. I like the fact that I can do the infusions at home.
This groupd and the IDF have done wonders to help me with all of my questions and ease my mind about CVID.
I saw my PCP on Wed. as I badly sprained my ankle. I told her my new Immuno. dr. wants to start treatment. She told me that she was wondering why the Allergist had told me no treatment? She is very glad that I found this new dr. She says that I am her first CVID patient and she is going to learn about it along with me. She wants me to keep her updated. She is really excited that there is help forme
