I wrote a letter to my parents last wed/thurs and gave it to/mailed it off friday. My mom didn't take the news of me liking women well.
My dad called me today and my heart sank as soon as I saw he was calling. I just knew he was going to have something horrible to say. Boy was I wrong! He said, " I got your letter today and want you to know that I love you with all my heart. You are my baby girl and no matter what I support you." Then he proceeded with, "I bet your mom isn't happy, is she? Just give her time and even if she doesn't come around I am here for you. I love you my sweet baby girl."
My face was lit up and I couldn't even respond to him. I was in total shock. I almost cried, but didn't want to in front of him. I am just not the type to cry in front of my parents or much of anyone for that matter.
For everyone that is debating on whether to come out or not. It DOES get better. Whether you have to make a "new family" or if your biological family accepts you, if you are truely happy with who you are then things will get so much easier once you just let the truth be told. ;)

That's awsome! You're pretty lucky to have a dad that is supportive. My dad is still in denial about me!

My mom is still in denial as well. She acts like I never told her anything. I just keep telling myself it's her way of dealing with it and move on. Keep your head up and keep moving forward. Things will get better even though it may take some time.

In fact, my dad keeps calling to make sure I am okay. He knows how rough it is to live with my mom, since he was married to her at one point. He keeps telling me if I need to talk he is there and always has the door open. IDK if he is wanting me to go into more detail with him or if he just being nice. I don't really feel confortable talking to him, other than what I told him in the letter. Therefore I haven't said anything to him about my relationship with women. In fact I guess since I know he is supportive I feel like I don't want to talk about it anymore than I have to.
