Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
My father died of prostate cancer that had spread to the bones. Remember after he died I asked my sister who is a nurse how they check for prostate and she told me about the examination.
For several days I mulled this over and finally decided that the indignity of the minute or so is a lot better than the suffering my father ended up going through.
So I went to the local medical clinic and sat in the waiting room till I seen a doctor that I liked, at this point I went to the receptionist and asked for an appointment with him. The receptionist informed me that he did not have a vacancy for several days and considering I did not even know his name would I like to see another doctor.
To this I replied no I am not in a hurry and am quite happy to wait to see him. The curiosity of the receptionist got the better of her and after making the appointment and as I was about to walk out she said "why do you want to see that doctor" to which I replied "Because he has little fingers" to this day I do not know if she got it!!
Oh and by the way I was all clear and the examination was a blood test.
